Hot runner design
Although the production of domestic hot runners started late, the growth rate is extremely fast, and the market proportion is constantly expanding. In the early stage, relying on delivery time and price to open the market, the quality of domestic hot runners is also rapidly improving.
The hot runner mold has many advantages such as short molding cycle, saving raw materials, and being conducive to automation. However, if quality control is not good, there are also many problems, such as the complex structure of the hot runner causing polishing difficulties, affecting the aesthetics of injection molded parts, and surface smoothness. How to quickly, efficiently, and precisely polish has become one of the core goals for many hot runner production enterprises to enhance their competitiveness.
In order to maintain the overall precision of the hot runner mold, many companies are currently using fluid polishing technology to polish the hot runner. This process is different from other methods in that it utilizes polymer soft abrasives for rapid polishing, while the mold is clamped inside the fixture and subjected to uniform force without damaging the workpiece. The following image is an actual photo of the fluid polishing process. Soft abrasive quickly passes through the surface and internal pores of the hot runner workpiece, which can completely polish the workpiece without leaving any dead corners.
Referring to the schematic diagram of the fluid polishing process below, you may find it easier to understand. The fluid medium inside the cylinder flows through the workpiece under the pressure of the piston. We can use either a unidirectional piston to flow abrasive in the same direction, or a bidirectional reciprocating piston to accelerate polishing efficiency. Both of these methods have their own advantages and can be selected based on the characteristics of the workpiece.
The surface treatment of the hot runner using the Smock abrasive fluid polishing process has gradually become the mainstream in the industry. The biggest feature of this process is that different fixtures are required for different hot runners, and the matching fixture is the biggest factor affecting the polishing effect.
