Transparent materials have always been a sought after favorite in the market, but due to the varying performance deficiencies of transparent ABS that can be mass-produced in the market, their application fields are limited. The main focus of transparent ABS is on several physical properties indicators;
1: The haze value is generally represented by the Haze value, which is closely related to the transparency of the material. High haze results in poor transparency of the material
2: Transparency: Generally, transparent materials have a light transmittance of over 85%, while pure transparent materials such as PMMA have a higher transmittance of over 90%.
3: Impact performance, which is the weakness of transparent materials in the market, has high impact performance and high haze value; Low haze values result in low impact performance.
4: Hardness is generally measured using a pencil, but the hardness of a pencil is closely related to the experimenter. Two experimenters testing the same material can result in significant testing errors, so some people also use a Shore hardness tester for testing.
At present, the research on PMMA transparent toughening and PC transparent toughening is relatively hot in the market, and the other one is transparent ABS. Of course, among these transparent materials, there are also good toughening agents for transparent PMMA toughening. The experimental results I obtained in the laboratory show that after adding toughening agents to PMMA, the haze value is around 3, and there is basically no change in transparency, Suspended Charge (1/8 ") 90J/M can still be increased with the addition of toughening agents, but the haze value will slightly increase. Transparent toughening of PC materials is mainly due to their excellent material properties and transparency. However, the issue of notch cracking in PC materials still restricts their application. Many universities and research institutes have joined this research project, and the solution has also shifted from adding toughening alone to adding compatibilizers, obtained by blending with other materials. Today we will mainly talk about transparent ABS material, which is mainly prepared by blending method and can be directly produced by customers who currently have twin screw extruders.
